Hero Banner

We think it’s fair to say that fashion was approaching a grown-up, slightly more serious phase pre-pandemic; beige, whites, creams, taupes, oatmeals - you name it - pervaded our wardrobes and minimalism borrowed from the streets of Scandi cities was the height of cool.

2022’s fashion landscape, though, looks very different. Embracing a renewed verve for life and the joy of getting dressed in the morning to go out - even if it’s for a day at the office - saturated colour, that exudes positivity and optimism, is back in every hue under the sun.

Our curation of colours that command attention are specifically selected in their most flattering shades and carry through multiple pieces to make outfit-building effortlessly easy. Below we dissect the five key colours that are worthy investments this season.

Why Everyone Is Wearing Bold Colour
  1. Pussybow Halterneck Top
  2. Towelling Shift Dress
  3. Cheesecloth Shirred Crop Top

GREEN

While green comes in many guises - bright mints, soft olive tones, faded sage - our shade of the colour dubbed Island Green is more saturated, more vibrant and bright. Whereas the earthy greens we sported last year might have reflected our tentative reemergence from a series of lockdowns, this year’s iteration is a confident celebration of life.

We’ve doused it over women’s trousers, co-ords, ruffle-trimmed maxi skirts, and casual bright dresses. Splashed it over cotton, dipped it in soft towelling and woven it through knits. Defining an edit of versatile pieces, the shade plays a role in holiday outfitting as well as everyday looks when you’re at home.

While our sleeveless Towelling Shift Dress instantly speaks to beachy settings, our Cheesecloth Shirred Crop Top and matching maxi skirt defined by an iron-free fabric lend themselves to both city and seaside destinations - the latter can even be styled as a strapless dress that doubles as an easy cover-up when you’re swapping the sand for a bar or restaurant on holiday.

Continue the same optimism synonymous with breaking with the quotidian when you return home. Satisfying the need for polished separates, our Pussybow Halterneck Top and Adjustable Waist Wide-Leg Pleated Trouser come together to create an elegant eveningwear look and lend themselves to elevated off-duty styling when sported separately. Switch up your aesthetic with the top’s necktie that can be secured as a pussybow or left to drape loosely over the front.

Why Everyone Is Wearing Bold Colour
  1. Statement Satin Halterneck Maxi Dress + Belt
  2. Cheesecloth Wide-Leg Palazzo Jumpsuit

BLUE

Dialling up the drama, our shade in an electrifying hue breathes new life into minimal silhouettes and fills your wardrobe with easy-to-wear and effortlessly statement-making pieces.

Dip your toe into the big blue (colour trend) with more casual, textured fabrics that add a softness to the bold colour. Our Cheesecloth Wide Leg Palazzo Jumpsuit in Lapis Blue is an accessible, versatile piece that complements light neutrals and deeper shades. With shirred detailing it creates a fitted-yet-flattering silhouette, while the iron-free fabric is the perfect partner to holiday packing and AM-PM styling.

Alternatively, dive straight in with a lustrous yarn that fully embraces and emphasises our bright Aqua colourway. Our Satin Halterneck Maxi Dress + Belt is crafted from a lightweight satin-back crepe that is crease-resistant for an effortlessly polished finish day and night and is signed off with a statement tie at the nape of your neck.

Why Everyone Is Wearing Bold Colour
  1. Casual Cotton Maxi Shirt Dress + Belt
  2. Statement Man Pant

YELLOW

Lemon, buttercup, sunshine, every word we use to describe this shade is emotive of warm weather, summer days and a slower pace of life. It’s vibrant, bold, warm and fresh all at once - a tricky combination to cohesively pull together under one umbrella, but done with effortless elan.

This year, we’re banishing even the slightest hint of grey to the backs of our wardrobes and bringing sunny yellows to the fore with coloured outfits. The sartorial equivalent to a slice of sunshine, it acts as a new neutral for SS22 and a reminder of sunshine when September brings cooler temperatures.

From casual, beach-ready women’s dresses to polished, city suiting, the colour proves its versatility and instantly breathes new life into your edit of holiday or workwear pieces. Switching between a defined and more casual aesthetic, our Casual Cotton Maxi Shirt Dress is accompanied by a removable belt, while our Short Fitted Blazer and Statement Man Pant in Sun Yellow squeezes more potential out of your wardrobe staples, whether you choose to wear them together or separately.

Why Everyone Is Wearing Bold Colour
  1. Towelling Jumpsuit
  2. Ultimate Wide-Leg Jean
  3. Colour Pop Trouser Suit

ORANGE

A metaphorical dose of Vitamin C courtesy of this most zesty of confident colours; forgoing tangerine and lighter iterations, our burnt-orange shade sits at the darker end of the colour’s spectrum, finding the balance between being saturated enough to make a statement but not overwhelm or appear aggressively attention-grabbing.

With dipped hems, practical pockets and removable belts, these pieces celebrate the boisterous shade that instantly uplifts your look and flatters your frame. Our dresses in the colour adopt more casual, A-line or swing shapes and are crafted from soft cotton with details that have been translated from simple wardrobe staples and familiar silhouettes such as sleeveless vests and short-sleeved T-shirts to make the colour easily accessible and easy to wear.

Another approach is to turn to bright jumpsuits in the colour. Our towelling iteration has a super-soft hand feel and is accompanied by a zipped neckline that runs between the neat tailored collar and belted waist that alters the silhouette to suit different settings, from day to dusk. After all, didn’t someone say orange is the new black?

PINK

Championing conversation-starting colour doesn’t only lie in Spring/Summer styling, AW22 shows celebrated hot pink hues and fuchsias in mood-boosting fashion, proving our collective penchant for colourful fashion is showing no signs of waning.

While it might carry purely feminine connotations today, the shade was, for centuries, a boy’s colour and it wasn’t until the 50s that its role in women’s fashion was finally cemented. Anything but bubblegum or millennial, our Ultra Pink hue is a bright burst of sartorial serotonin that proves the colour still has a place in our wardrobes long into adulthood.

The easiest way to embrace any colour-related trend is to do it head-to-toe, don’t stay in the shallow end; a tentative approach is a valid one to slowly introduce a trend or colour to your wardrobe, but where’s the fun in doing something by halves? Swap paddling for a bold splash. Embrace pink when you slip on our Super Wide-Leg Halterneck Jumpsuit + Belt detailed with a dramatic neckline that can be adjusted to accommodate different bust sizes while the belt, in the same shock of pink, draws in your waist above the functional side pockets.
