Tatler Visits Clare At Home
On the eve of London Fashion Week, Sacha Forbes of Tatler sat down with ME+EM founder Clare at home to discuss building a brand from the ground up and what keeps her inspired.
“It started out as 'comfortable luxury’” Clare explains to Forbes, “The principle is really well-made clothes that aren't designer prices, but I still want the right cut and all of the right details.” Forbes adds, “Clare is obsessed, for instance, with pockets and their positioning.” Indeed, the thoughtful placing of pockets is one of many meticulously considered design features that adhere to our aim to deliver ‘flattering functionality’.

“Also key to the brand is investment dressing, as Clare explains: “A lot of thought goes into how many times you can wear a piece, how many times you can restyle it.” Indeed, with a focus on high-quality fabrics, intelligent British design and beautiful craftsmanship, we focus on providing timeless investment pieces for a staple wardrobe that can survive season after season.
“Now though, it's understanding what everyone wants post-pandemic,” says Clare. Gradually readjusting to life beyond lockdown, we have re-introduced more investment evening wear, for instance, whilst still maintaining a focus on the sort of comfortable sports-luxe people have come to love from us.
