The Prince’s Trust is on a mission to change the lives of young women. Founded just over two years ago, their incredible Women Supporting Women initiative works tirelessly to nurture, empower and inspire young women to build their own futures through employment, education or training.
Last year, ME+EM Founder and CEO Clare Hornby was proud to have been made an ambassador for Women Supporting Women. As a female-led business, supporting women to achieve their goals and build their futures is intrinsic, which is why we have collaborated with the initiative on our Pinky Promise Tee to help raise both awareness and support in honour of International Women’s Day 2021.

Young women across the UK have always been disproportionately disadvantaged compared to young men, but in the wake of Covid-19, they have found themselves particularly affected.
At the start of the pandemic, more than 78% of those who lost their jobs were women, with two-thirds aged between 18 and 34 (PWC). Research by The Prince’s Trust has found that 60% of young women are now fearful for their future.

Working in collaboration with women’s groups and employing more inclusive outreach, Women Supporting Women is seeing increased participation from young women by removing barriers to support, like paying for childcare up until a mother gets their first pay cheque, running programmes at more flexible times to allow for caring responsibilities and delivering women’s only programmes.
During the pandemic, Women Supporting Women have brought their programmes online which has helped them support more young women who, under normal circumstances, would otherwise struggle to reach support in person.
All proceeds from the sale of our Pinky Promise Tee will be donated to Women Supporting Women to help them continue all this crucial work. You can learn more about the initiative here.
