In her latest article for Stella, ‘Why your first post-lockdown purchase should be a jacket’, Armstrong makes a strong case for the re-introduction of this neglected garment.

Armstrong also draws attention to the elasticated waist with drawcord ties on the matching trouser. The fit can be adjusted to suit your unique shape by using the ties to cinch in the waist or leaving loose, meaning you don’t need to relinquish comfort to elevate your wardrobe.

“The new relaxed-smart mood calls or a bit of playfulness”, Armstrong tells us, “A jacket can be cropped, belted, shiny or fluffy. Madame-y Chanel-esque or oversized”.
