Anna Murphy admits that she “couldn’t live without” ME+EM | As seen in The Times
When asked by a friend what four fashion labels she couldn’t live without, for Anna Murphy, Fashion Director at The Times, the answer was easy. “If my hand was forced to pick one brand only” – ME+EM would be it.“Quite simply there is no one better at conjuring clothes that make you look just hip enough, whatever your age and size, in fabrics that flatter and feel gorgeous.” For instance, “two small but perfectly formed friends – both 5ft 2in – now swear by it”, writes Murphy.
With said friend Alex, a busy professional with a free spirit, feeling like “at 51, she was no longer reflecting her true self in what she wore”, Murphy writes, “I sent her immediately for a (gratis) personal styling appointment at ME+EM”. After a sabbatical, our dressing room curtains have finally been re-opened with the offer of one-to-one styling appointments that cater to individual needs.
“In contrast to many lesser brands, its clothes are also properly designed to work together”, explains Murphy. And so, with the help of our head stylist, Zoe Zipper, Alex was able to create “a capsule wardrobe to call her own”, as such “the joy and empowerment (yes, empowerment) she feels as a result is wonderful to witness.”
“I return to ME+EM more regularly than most”, says Murphy. As a true aficionado, she explains her reasoning behind this faithful following; “It’s great at (very) laid-back tailoring, at athleisure for grown-ups, at tops that go with everything, at sleek looking trousers that still comfortably accommodate one’s booty, at making black interesting (side-stripes, gold buttons), at the new neutrals (khaki and navy), at pops of colour, at posh-looking cuts and clothes, at dresses for different shapes and sizes.”
